BOARD OF DIRECTORS RECRUITMENT PROCESS

Community Futures Development Corporation of Okanagan-Similkameen has a diverse board of directors, up to a maximum number of 15.  These directors represent the geographic areas within our region, which include the communities of:

  • Summerland
  • Penticton
  • Oliver
  • Osoyoos
  • Keremeos
  • Princeton

In addition to regional diversity, our optimal board composition will reflect diversity of:

  • Age
  • Business experience
  • Community interests
  • Economic sectors
  • Ethnicity
  • Gender
  • Skills

Directors are appointed at the annual general meeting, which is usually held in September each year.  Directors can serve a maximum term of 9 consecutive years from the date of appointment.  For succession planning purposes, our current board of directors comprises of members with varying lengths of tenure, which ensures continuity over time.  On average, one to two board members’ terms expire every one to two years.  The board of directors is not currently at the maximum capacity of 15, which allows the appointment of additional directors in years when no existing directors’ terms expire.

Any new appointments to the board of directors will need to complement, or replace, the diversity factors listed above of our existing board.
