ABOUT US

What We Do

Community Futures Okanagan Similkameen supports small business development and rural economic diversification within the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen. Our area includes Summerland, Penticton, Naramata, OK Falls, Oliver, Osoyoos, Keremeos, Hedley, Princeton and everything in between. We actively work with community and business leaders to foster rural economic growth and are partners in building vibrant and sustainable communities.

Different than a bank, Community Futures uses alternate lending criteria, focusing on rural development and providing business loans to businesses in our region.

Our business training includes group workshops in a variety of topics, and one-on-one coaching and business advisory services.

The Community Futures Network of British Columbia is the only community-driven, non-profit business loan and business development organization made up of 34 Community Futures offices throughout rural British Columbia. We are funded by the Government of Canada through Pacifican and have been supporting rural entrepreneurs since 1984.

Working with Small Business

Building entrepreneurial capacity is one of the keys to thriving, healthy communities. Community Futures provides a wide range of business counseling and advisory services. Survival rates for Community Futures’ sponsored businesses outstrip the national average, often because of the combination of business loans, business training, and coaching.

Working with the Community

The volunteers and staff who drive the Community Futures program believe that strong, vibrant communities are built by working together. We often act as facilitators, bringing together diverse groups to develop a vision for their future and to integrate community resources into a long-term strategy. The collaboration combines economic, social, educational, cultural, and environmental goals.

Testimonials

OUR CLIENTS SAY IT BEST

I came to CFOS for help with a business plan and a very sizeable loan for my small business. Nicole, who helped my out with my business plan, was extremely knowledgeable and took lots of time to meet with me individually to clarify concepts throughout the process. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to become a small business owner to get a head start by looking to her for guidance! Once my business plan was complete, Holt was tremendously helpful in ensuring I was able to get the funding I needed to start my business. He was working with me the whole way along and made sure I had everything I needed to have the best chance possible of securing the loan that I required. All around I had an amazing experience working with this organization. I wouldn’t recommend any other way for a small business owner to learn about entrepreneurship and to get their feet off the ground doing what they love. Thank you CFOS!
